Challenge
Two core services had evolved organically, and their architecture had never been formally documented. The team was preparing for an architecture review with incomplete ADRs and outdated Backstage documentation — creating risk around credibility and decision confidence.
What We Did
FusionHit used AI to reverse-engineer both the Session Service and the Message Service from existing codebases. The process surfaced the actual implementation logic, clarified design decisions that had been made informally over time, and produced structured Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and updated Backstage documentation that reflected the real system state — not aspirational documentation.
Results
- Two services fully documented with accurate, reasoned ADRs
- Backstage pages updated to reflect current architecture
- Architecture review delivered with clarity and confidence, previously at risk of being deferred
Why It Matters
Documentation debt is invisible until it becomes a blocker — in audits, onboarding, or architecture reviews. AI accelerates the recovery from that debt without pulling senior engineers off delivery work.
